"What we are is God's gift to us. What we become is our gift to God" ~ Eleanor Powell

Working Wholeheartedly
TGIF Today God Is First Volume 1 by Os Hillman
Friday, December 26 2008

"In everything that he undertook in the service of God's temple and in obedience to the law and the commands, he sought his God and worked wholeheartedly. And so he prospered." - 2 Chronicles 31:21

Hezekiah was a godly king. He was also a very talented businessman and builder. He was responsible for many noteworthy projects that are described in detail in the Old Testament. We discover from the passage above that King Hezekiah had two major attributes that contributed to his success and prosperity: He sought God, and he worked wholeheartedly upholding God's laws.

Godly success involves a partnership between you and God. Success in God's economy means achieving the purpose for which God made you. That purpose can never be discovered without seeking Him with a whole heart. You may achieve great things without seeking God, but you will never achieve the things God set out for you to achieve without seeking Him. Unless you seek Him, you may find yourself one day climbing to the top of the ladder only to find it leaning against the wrong wall.

What does it mean to seek God? It means creating time to sit before His throne in quiet places. It means reading His Word in order to know Him more intimately. It means developing an ear to hear His voice so that we know when to turn to the right or to the left. God desires to know you.

Are you willing to take the time to know Him? If so, you can be sure He will guide you into those things that will bring success to every aspect of your life.

I Have A Destiny

I have a destiny I know I shall fulfill
I have a destiny in that city on a hill.
I have a destiny and it's not an empty wish
For I know I was born for such a time as this.

Long before the ages You predestined me
To walk in all the works You have prepared for me
You've given me a part to play in history
To help prepare a bride for eternity.

I did not choose you but You have chosen me
And appointed me for bearing fruit abundantly
I know You will complete the work begun in me
By the power of Your Spirit working mightily.

what should we do when we face bad influence..?

Psalm 119:37
Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word.

Psalm 101:3-5
I will set before my eyes no vile thing. The deeds of faithless men I hate; they wil not cling to me. men of perverse heart shall be far from me; I will have nothing to do with evil.

Romans 6:14
For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.

1 Corinthians 10:13
No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.

Philipians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

2 Timothy 2:22
Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

Titus 2:11-13
For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and wordly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ.

what we learnt last Sunday

..Good touch Bad touch
"there are touches that are safe and good. Holding hands during a game or when singing a song or when crossing the road is good touch. Hugs and kisses by a parent or grandparent are also good and safe. However, there are also touches that are bad and unsafe. In addition to kicking, hitting and fighting, which most already know to be bad and unsafe, we learnt that there are times when inappropriate touching of the body is also bad and unsafe.. our body is made by God and it should only be touched in a good and safe way.. always tell an adult if you are unsure or confused if a touch is good or bad."

..this is also highlighted at the University of Iowa Children's Hospital Child Protection Program

* * *
the Best touch is.. God's Touch!

here's an extract from Our Daily Bread about letting God hold our hand..

"One of the joys of being with kids is holding their hands. We do it to keep them safe while crossing the street, or to keep them from getting lost in a crowd. And whenever they stumble and lose their footing, we grab their little hands tighter to keep them from falling.

That’s what God does for us. Inevitably there are stones and cracks that trip us up on the sidewalks of life. That’s why it’s easy to identify with the psalmist, who said, “My steps had nearly slipped” (Ps. 73:2).

We all face a variety of issues that threaten to make us stumble. For the psalmist Asaph, seeing the prosperity of the wicked caused him to question the goodness of God. But God squeezed his hand and reassured him that, given the judgment of God, the wicked do not really prosper. True prosperity, the psalmist discovered, was found in the fact that God was always with him: “You hold me by my right hand” (v.23). And just for good measure, God reminded him that He would also guide him through life and ultimately welcome him home to heaven (v.24). How good is that!

So, next time you stumble, remember that the powerful hand of God is holding your hand and walking you through life—all the way home! — Joe Stowell

Many things about tomorrow
I don’t seem to understand;
But I know who holds tomorrow
And I know who holds my hand. —Stanphill

Ode of Thanks

"Children are a blessing
Sang their hearts out they did
Angelic voices they have
Moved the adults
Proud parents beaming a common sight
Cameras flashed to capture the special moments
As far as hawker centre and the 3rd floor
their beautiful voices could be heard"

ask-seek-knock

Prayer changes things

Asking, seeking and knocking all points to earnest prayers to God, at varying levels of intensity.

Asking implies a simple statement of request. Seeking indicates an active search. Knocking refers to perseverance in spite of obstacles.

God has prepared gifts for all of us... let's ask, seek and knock for all the gifts that God wants to give each of us and help each other to find, seek and hunt down our gifts by keeping each other in our prayers to God!

Pray for everyone that you care about, everyone that God puts in your heart!!

Read more about Matthew 7:7

gifts that we would like to receive from God

"Ask, and it shall be given to you. Search, and you shall find. Knock, and the door will be opened to you." Matthew 7:7

some verses (NIV) on fellowship.. in random order

1Corinthians 1:10 I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought.

1Corinthians 10:17 Because there is one loaf, we, who are many, are one body, for we all partake of the one loaf.

Colossians 2:2 My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ,

1Thessalonians 4:18 Therefore encourage each other with these words.

1Thessalonians 5:11 Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

1Thessalonians 5:14 And we urge you, brothers, warn those who are idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone.

Hebrews 3:13 But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness.

Hebrews 10:24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.

Hebrews 10:25 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

Hebrews 13:1 Keep on loving each other as brothers.

James 5:16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

1John 1:3 We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.

1John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.

pictures from soaking

these are some of the images received by our group during soaking session last sunday

noticed that the rainbow was received by more than one..

Genesis 9:12-16
12 And God said, "This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: 13 I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 14 Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, 15 I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. 16 Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth."

what did God tell you about the pictures?
what have you learnt..?

Give, and it will be given to you.. Luke 6:38

Auntie Anne taught about giving (a heaping heart) from last sunday's memory verse in Luke 6:38

i pray that God give all of us a loving, giving heart, that gives simply because we have received His salvation and His amazing endless love which cannot be contained in our hearts, because He gives us sooooooo much, it just overflows...

what would you like to give today?
what else can we give? :)

***
More verses on giving

Romans 12:13 — “Share with God’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.

Proverbs 19:17 — “He who is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward him for what he has done.”

Mark 12:43-44 — “Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, ‘I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.’ ”

2 Corinthians 9:6-9 — “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. As it is written: ‘He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor; his righteousness endures forever.’ ” [quoting Psalms 112:9]

1 John 3:16-19 — “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth. This then is how we know that we belong to the truth, and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence ...”

Acts 4:32 — “All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had.”

Mark 10:21 — “Jesus looked at him and loved him. ‘One thing you lack,’ he said. ‘Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven.

1 Timothy 6:6-7, 17-19 — “But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. ... Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.”
